MB-32: Smart & Functional Design for Wheelchair Users

For a long time, we have observed that when disabled people use wheelchairs, they always hang various plastic bags, shopping bags, etc. everywhere, which not only looks messy and unsightly, but also lacks practicality. Even worse, users buy some inappropriate bags and modify them to the way they want to install or use them.
There are few bags on the market that are specifically developed for assistive devices. Even if there are, they are just ordinary bags without any special features, functionality or design. The wheelchair quick-access backpack is designed based on the practicality and convenience of the disabled, improving the usage scenario of the wheelchair backpack and making it more convenient for the disabled to operate and use. I hope that the auxiliary tools can also be beautiful, instead of just randomly hanging some shopping bags and lacking aesthetics.

Most wheelchair users need backpacks, but few companies design bags specifically for assistive devices. Traditional backpacks require shoulder straps to be hung on both sides of the wheelchair handles, so it is very inconvenient for disabled people to take out the backpack or items. The user must find a way to remove the shoulder straps on both sides before taking the backpack at the back. The LOTUS wheelchair quick-access backpack was developed to improve this aspect. We believe that wheelchair accessories can also be stylish without being cluttered.

Why we split the tool bag into two parts: 1. Quick release plate 2. Bag

Because there are many different wheelchair frame designs, a special back panel is designed to fit various wheelchairs as much as possible, so that each bag does not need to develop a way to combine with a wheelchair. The quick-release plate can be reused, so when new bag models are released in the future, there is no need to purchase a back plate. In addition to reducing the burden and carbon footprint, you can also freely choose your favorite bag style without restrictions.

The user can simply turn around slightly and gently pull up the handle to unlock the magnetic buckle and pick up the backpack without removing the shoulder strap! When you want to hang it back, there is no need to deliberately position it because the quick-release plate has a positioning groove. Just put it back easily. After the hook slides into the groove, the third point magnetic buckle can automatically adsorb and the bag will naturally be positioned and fixed!
The main bag has enough storage space. There are two open pockets in the front of the bag to store small items. There are also pockets on both sides for placing water bottles or umbrellas. There is an elastic rope for fixing water bottles (patent M370966) to prevent water bottles from tipping over or falling.

The bag is not designed to have a particularly large capacity because of safety and convenience considerations. If the capacity is too large, the wheelchair user may load too heavy items, which may cause the wheelchair to tip over easily. And it is less easy to extract. Since there is no need for traditional backpacks to be hung on the armrests with shoulder straps, the quick-access backpack can be taken by simply lifting it up, greatly improving the convenience of the user. The large opening design and the lack of a zipper make it easier for users who may not be able to zip up items.
